06-June Khongea CTC-BOP Chai Assam Tea Khongea produces CTC teas not to be mistaken for mundane tea bags. Fine quality second-flush tea leaves are plucked from lush green fields, then CTC-processed after they're rolled, producing an extra strong, thick and spicy tea. While CTC teas are very popular used as a base to which to add aromatic spices to produce the popular beverage we in the U.S. know as "Chai" (whereas the Indians call the leaves by themselves "chai" because that's the word for tea), this CTC Broken Orange Pekoe tea is delicious entirely on its own, without the addition of spices and herbs, albeit the addition of milk or cream (yes, with this tea you could use cream!) and sweetener would not be amiss. We received 4 pouches (8oz (227g) each) of the 08 June 2011 harvest, with each pouch yielding roughly 90 teacups at 14¢ per teacup. We also received 2 tins (4.5oz (130g) each) of the 2010 harvest, with each tin yielding roughly 52 teacups at 23¢ per teacup. |

10-October Glenburn Autumn Oolong (Darjeeling) Each pouch contains 4oz (113.5g) of the marvelously huge leaves constituting this ultimate whole-leaf tea. At Glenburn's recommendation of 3-4g in 200ml (7 fl-oz) water, the pouch yields from 28 teacups (4g tea) at 88¢ per teacup to 37 teacups (3g tea) at 66¢ per teacup--if only one infusion is made. Keep in mind that oolongs stand up famously to multiple infusions of the same leaves, so you may get twice to three times as many bright reddish cups of this lightly-oxidized Oolong! |
